$HORIEH takes its name from Kyoko Hori, one of the main characters from Horimiya. The project is inspired by the anime’s famous “eh?” reaction — that short, confused, surprised sound that perfectly captures disbelief in a single moment. Hori is the face behind the reference, and “eh?” is the reaction that turned into the meme.

That reaction became bigger than the scene itself. The “eh?” sound from Horimiya has been clipped, reposted, and reused across anime meme edits and short-form videos because it instantly communicates confusion, shock, and “what just happened?” One YouTube upload of the clip shows about 665K views, another variant has about 230K views, and broader anime-edit compilations built around Horimiya and similar edit culture reach into the millions of views.
